"Sister Huanhuan, it seems we will soon reach the Tianjiao World Group. I heard the family has sent a large group of people to explore the Void Secret Realm, so we'll definitely run into family members," Yueyue suddenly said.
"If we do, they’ll likely capture us and take us back. Don’t forget how we managed to sneak out," Sister Huanhuan replied.
"That can’t be! I haven’t had enough fun yet," Yueyue exclaimed, alarmed by Huanhuan’s words.
“They must have slipped away in secret, truly unaware of the vastness and dangers of the world," Ye Yunfei thought to himself upon hearing Huanhuan’s words.
On the journey, the two sisters had told Ye Yunfei their names. They were surnamed Xiao—the elder sister was named Xiao Huanhuan and the younger sister, Xiao Yueyue—and they were twins born just under half an hour apart.
From their speech, Ye Yunfei sensed they hailed from a powerful and prominent family, but he did not press for more details.
"Still, we should probably return," Xiao Huanhuan sighed, speaking up. "After the exploration of the Void Secret Realm ends, we’ll go back with the family group. Having traveled outside for a while, I’ve realized how weak we truly are. Relying on just the two of us to wander through the Chaotic Void Sea is truly dangerous. So even if we meet family members, it’s fine—we’ll just follow them back."
"Sister Huanhuan, are you planning to return so soon? But I haven’t played enough yet," Yueyue objected unhappily.
"We can’t go on wandering aimlessly like this. If it weren’t for Young Master Ye this time, we would have already fallen into the hands of the Black Wind Group. Haven’t you learned your lesson?" Huanhuan glared at Yueyue.
"As long as we stick with Young Master Ye, we don’t have to fear anything. Sister Huanhuan, how about this—let’s follow Young Master Ye and wander the Chaotic Void Sea with him? He’s so powerful; he can definitely protect us."
Hearing Yueyue’s words, Ye Yunfei couldn’t help but frown. He had no intention of constantly carrying these two burdens by his side.
"Yueyue, don’t talk nonsense. Young Master Ye can’t possibly protect us all the time. He has his own matters to attend to. Do you think he’s as idle and bored as we are?" Huanhuan noticed Ye Yunfei’s expression and immediately scolded Yueyue.
Over the next few days, they encountered more and more people heading toward the Tianjiao World Group. Most were Golden Immortals and Heavenly Immortals—clear evidence they were all bound for the Void Secret Realm.
Just then, behind Ye Yunfei and the Xiao sisters, a group of people came rolling toward them.
This group numbered roughly a hundred, with the strongest among them being a Peak Golden Immortal.
"The Xiao twins are in this direction. I can sense the aura they left behind—they must be heading to the Tianjiao World Group, definitely aiming for the Void Secret Realm," someone announced.
"Those two wretched girls really deserve death! To capture them, our Black Wind Group has dispatched two batches of troops back‑to‑back, totaling nearly two to three hundred men! It seems we’re going to take a loss on this job!" another person added.
"No loss—haven’t you heard? The client has doubled our payment now! Everybody, give it your all. Once we capture the Xiao twins and return, the leader will definitely reward us handsomely," yet another chimed in.
"I heard that every member of the previous batch sent to hunt the twins has already been killed, and we still haven’t figured out who did it. I think we all should be cautious—there might be something odd about those two girls," someone suddenly warned.
"What’s there to fear? There are so many of us! Dealing with the Xiao twins should be more than enough," someone yelled immediately.
"Right! None of us in the Black Wind Group is afraid of death! Besides, if we can’t even handle two young girls, how can we ever show our faces again?"
…
The rest spoke up one after another.
"Don’t worry, everyone. I just received word that headquarters has dispatched a Heavenly Immortal expert to assist us in dealing with the Xiao twins," the man leading at the front suddenly announced.
He was the captain of this Black Wind Group squad, responsible for heading this operation.
"What? Brother Zhang, are you serious? Just to deal with those twins, headquarters actually sent a Heavenly Immortal expert?" The others were all astonished.
"Of course it’s true. Because of those twins, our Black Wind Group has lost over a hundred capable hands. When the leader received the news, he flew into a rage. Besides sending us to track the Xiao girls, he followed up by dispatching a Heavenly Immortal expert. If we fail to capture the Xiao twins this time, it will likely harm our reputation and affect our future business. That’s why the leader absolutely cannot allow that to happen—sending a Heavenly Immortal is just to play it safe," Captain Zhang explained.
"I see. So the leader attaches great importance to this mission. But just with our current strength, we already have more than enough to capture the Xiao twins. Did headquarters really need to send a Heavenly Immortal?" someone commented.
"Enough talk. Before we actually catch the Xiao twins, don’t speak so boastfully," Captain Zhang said.
"I’ve already sensed the twins’ aura. We’re getting closer and closer to them. Everybody speed up—we should catch up to them soon," a short, thin‑faced elderly man suddenly spoke.
He had been performing calculations—he was the one in this squad specially tasked with tracking and sensing enemies. The Black Wind Group had a dedicated team of adepts who specialized in various types of divination, and this old man was one of them.
Hearing his words, the other Black Wind Group members all perked up and hurried forward after him.
Unknowingly, another four or five days passed.
"We should reach the Tianjiao World Group in about another day or so," the Remnant Soul suddenly transmitted to Ye Yunfei.
"Excellent!" Ye Yunfei immediately replied.
By then, apart from Ye Yunfei’s group of three, people could be seen everywhere in large batches, rushing toward the Tianjiao World Group from all directions.
"Seems there are going to be lots of beings entering the Void Secret Realm for exploration," Ye Yunfei mused, watching the steady stream of people heading to the Tianjiao World Group.
"Of course. The Void Secret Realm is a famous forbidden ground—its reputation has long spread throughout the entire Chaotic Void Sea. Every time it opens, countless beings are drawn inside to explore. It can be said that each opening of the Void Secret Realm is like a grand gathering for the younger generation across the Chaotic Void Sea. Soon you’ll meet a great many young talents from all corners of the Chaotic Void Sea," the Remnant Soul said.
"Back in the day, as soon as I heard news that the Void Secret Realm was about to open, I set out at once, traveling from afar. Back then I was a bit of a genius myself—not only well‑known throughout my homeworld cluster, but stories about me circulated even in other world clusters. But the glories of those days are distant to me now. At present, I’m just a ghost‑like remnant soul." The Remnant Soul continued, his tone tinged with a touch of ruefulness.
"Still, someday I will rise once more in the Chaotic Void Sea!" Suddenly he became confident again, speaking with full assurance.
"Young man, while I have been staying with you during this period, once my recovery is complete and my situation improves, I shall leave you and embark on a road to regain my strength. Believe me, in the future you will see me rise again. Just wait—eventually, another famous expert will appear in the Chaotic Void Sea, and that will be me! My case is what you call the return of a king!" the Remnant Soul told Ye Yunfei, sounding exceedingly domineering.
"Senior, I congratulate you in advance on your kingly return," Ye Yunfei said with a smile.
"Don’t worry. After I dominate the Chaotic Void Sea once again, I won’t forget the connection we share. I’ll look out for you then," the Remnant Soul declared.
"I get the feeling this fellow isn’t exactly reliable—almost like he’s boasting. He’s nothing but a remnant soul, yet he’s daydreaming about dominating the Chaotic Void Sea in the future," Hun Lao transmitted to Ye Yunfei, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Don’t underestimate him. He was able to linger for so long within the Samsara Passage and still retain this level of strength now—proves that he truly was an extraordinarily fearsome powerhouse in his prime," Ye Yunfei said.
"He’s not a Deity; no matter how strong, there are limits," Hun Lao argued, his outlook having grown far loftier since learning about the existence of Deities.
"By the way, Hun Lao, your Chaos World Tree clan is acclaimed as Divine Trees—shouldn’t that be on par with the Deities? Does your racial inheritance memory contain any recollections about Deities?" Ye Yunfei suddenly asked curiously.
"Although I am of the Chaos World Tree lineage, you know that I’m only a single branch from the Chaos World Tree itself. What I possess is only a portion of the clan’s inheritance memory. The portion regarding Deities must be among the highest level. Right now I have no recollection whatsoever in that area. I don’t know if that part will awaken in the future," Hun Lao replied.
"That’s true as well," Ye Yunfei nodded. Hun Lao wasn’t a complete Chaos World Tree; he didn’t necessarily have the full range of inherited memories.
"Young Master Ye, we’re about to reach the Tianjiao World Group!" Yueyue suddenly exclaimed.
"Yes, we’ll soon arrive at our destination," Ye Yunfei nodded.
Along the way, Ye Yunfei had grown closer to the sisters, so his attitude toward them had softened noticeably.
"Young Master Ye, let’s enter the Void Secret Realm together when we get there. The three of us can explore as a team," Yueyue said.
Just then, Ye Yunfei’s expression suddenly shifted.
Under the perception of his Soul Power, he detected a group of several dozen people with fierce auras approaching swiftly from behind. Their obvious hostility was unmistakable.
"A group is coming for the three of you! I suspect it’s the Black Wind Group seeking you out again. These bandits are skilled at tracking, so they’ve managed to follow you all the way here," the Remnant Soul spoke up, his perception abilities even sharper than Ye Yunfei’s.
"You’re right. Most likely it’s the Black Wind Group again," Ye Yunfei’s face darkened slightly.
Originally, Ye Yunfei had not intended to make too many enemies while traveling, but the repeated provocations from the Black Wind Group left him no choice. Of course, he knew they were after the Xiao sisters. Since he had accepted their payment and promised to accompany them, and given his character, abandoning them was out of the question.
"Be careful—the Black Wind Group may have caught up again," Ye Yunfei transmitted to the sisters.
"What? They’re here again?" Both sisters were startled. Their perception was inferior to Ye Yunfei’s; they hadn’t sensed the Black Wind Group members yet.
"Young Master Ye, let’s escape quickly. The Black Wind Group outnumbers us, so we should avoid fighting head‑on if we can," Xiao Huanhuan urged.
"There’s no need to worry. The ones coming aren’t especially strong," Ye Yunfei said by now, having already accurately sensed their cultivation. They were all Golden Immortals—so long as no Heavenly Immortals were present, he was unafraid.
"Incidentally, how much do you know about the Black Wind Group? Do you have any idea of their overall strength?" After a moment’s thought, Ye Yunfei asked the sisters.
"From what I’ve heard, the strongest expert in the Black Wind Group is a Peak Heavenly Immortal. Actually, within the Chaotic Void Sea, the Black Wind Group isn’t an especially mighty force. It’s just that they are adept at concealing their whereabouts—they’re very secretive. Outsiders rarely know the location of their headquarters or hideouts. Plus, they have a ferocious and ruthless modus operandi. Once someone crosses them, they never stop pursuing until one side is dead, making them exceedingly troublesome. That’s why ordinary people generally avoid provoking them," Xiao Huanhuan explained.
"I see," Ye Yunfei nodded.
"Young Master Ye, let’s go," Huanhuan said.
"No. This group of Black Wind Group operatives knows where we are. They’ve tracked us precisely all this way; if we run, they’ll just keep following. It seems they’ve locked onto the auras of you two," Ye Yunfei said after some consideration.
"Let’s conceal our auras immediately and hide, then slip past them," Huanhuan proposed.
"It’s useless. For them to trail us from such a long distance shows how formidable their tracking skills are—they’ve already tightly locked onto both your auras. Even if we temporarily evade them now, they’ll keep following us into the Tianjiao World Group. Sooner or later they’ll find us again. The only way would be to give up on the Tianjiao World Group and abandon our plans to enter the Void Secret Realm," Ye Yunfei shook his head.
"Then what should we do? Fight them?" Xiao Yueyue asked.
"The safest approach is to kill them all," Ye Yunfei considered briefly, then said coldly.
A short while later.
The sizable squad of Black Wind Group members arrived at the spot where Ye Yunfei and the sisters had just been standing.
"I can sense the Xiao twins’ auras! They were here moments ago—they can’t have gotten far. They must be nearby! Search!" Zhang Dage shouted, his perception keen enough to detect the lingering traces of the Xiao sisters.
Just then—
Aah! …
Suddenly, shrieks of agony broke out one after another. Those members trailing behind Zhang Dage seemed struck by lightning, their bodies flung upward and hurled backward.
Many died on the spot—their Soul Bodies completely shattered.
In practically a heartbeat, over half of the Black Wind Group members were either dead or severely wounded.
"Such a terrifying Soul Power technique!" Zhang Dage stared, both startled and furious. He knew that an expert must be lurking nearby using a Soul‑based martial art to produce such results.
"Who dares? Anyone who kills our Black Wind Group men will face our full fury!" Zhang Dage roared.
"How impressive is the Black Wind Group anyway? Once you’ve crossed me, no ‘group’ can save you," a chilling voice rang out.
Ye Yunfei materialized like a phantom right behind Zhang Dage. A long sword in hand, he swung—a massive sword beam whistled out, instantly cleaving one of Zhang Dage’s arms clean off.
"I’ll fight you to the end!" Zhang Dage bellowed, whirling around. His remaining hand gripped a silver spear, ready to throw his all into a desperate strike.
"Kid, was it you who wounded me?" Seeing the young man standing before him, Zhang Dage was dumbfounded. He couldn’t believe that this seemingly ordinary youth could slaughter so many of his men in an instant and even injure him.
"Impossible—this is only a Initial Golden Immortal’s strength!" Zhang Dage thought wildly.
"Indeed, it was me. And now you can die," Ye Yunfei uttered coolly.
Boom…
Another great sword beam whistled toward Zhang Dage. This time, Zhang Dage was powerless to resist. Man and spear were sliced apart, even his Soul Body split in two. He died on the spot.
Ye Yunfei then swept his sword through the remaining Black Wind Group men, dispatching one after another—in less than the span of a breath, every last one lay dead.
Immediately after, the Blood Clan Clone and Huang Shang appeared. They quickly refined and absorbed the Origin Essence Blood and Soul Body energy of the fallen.
"Let’s go!" Moments later, Ye Yunfei flicked his sleeve, enveloped the two sisters, and instantly teleported away.
Shortly after.
Whoosh!
A tall, thin, gray‑robed elder materialized like a phantom at the location. Staring at the place where the Black Wind Group members had been slaughtered, his face was ugly.
"Another batch sent by our Black Wind Group has been completely wiped out! Could those Xiao twins have done it? Impossible! Someone else must be protecting them!" the elder hissed.
"Whoever it is, I will tear him limb from limb. The Black Wind Group is not to be trifled with." Teeth grinding, the elder spoke through gritted teeth. Palpable murderous aura visibly radiated from him, churning upward.
Had Ye Yunfei been present, he would have seen at once—this elder was a Heavenly Immortal!
