“These sword auras are not simple. They seem to contain some extremely profound sword techniques.”
Ye Yunfei was inwardly astonished.
Because he suddenly realized that each stream of sword aura seemed to contain a sophisticated sword art. Ye Yunfei even noticed that around this temple, many phantoms gripping long swords were performing various different sword techniques.
Ye Yunfei understood these should be unusual phenomena born from the incredibly high-level Sword Dao energy and Sword Dao principles existing here.
“I just realized this temple seems to be composed of countless sharp sword auras,” Hun Lao suddenly said in surprise.
“Yes, I have the same feeling. Every brick and tile of this temple seems to be constructed from intertwined strands of Sword Dao energy. I don’t know if it’s our illusion or if the temple truly is built from sword auras. But regardless, the ancient Sword Dao senior who left this Sword Shrine behind possessed a level of skill that is simply unimaginable.”
By this time, Ye Yunfei had already unleashed the strongest power of his Myriad Swords Return to One Great Art, sending out one thick sword radiance after another. They whirled around his body, forming layer upon layer of defensive barriers that clashed with the ceaselessly attacking sword auras, producing metallic clanging sounds.
Gradually, however, Ye Yunfei delightedly discovered that the speed of the sword auras assaulting him was slowing, and their power was diminishing significantly. Quite a few of the sword auras even flashed past Ye Yunfei’s side without attacking him.
“It seems the Myriad Swords Return to One Great Art really is effective!” Hun Lao exclaimed joyfully.
“Yes. After I used the Myriad Swords Return to One Great Art, these sword auras’ attacks against me gradually weakened. It seems the Sword Dao senior who left this Sword Shrine indeed had some relationship with Jian Shenzi. These sword auras here and the Myriad Swords Return to One Great Art I cultivate are most likely from the same lineage.”
“Then what are you waiting for? Hurry in,” Hun Lao urged.
Ye Yunfei nodded and then stepped towards the temple’s entrance.
A massive number of dazzling sword auras filled the surrounding space, but they no longer attacked Ye Yunfei. Instead, they swam past him like a school of docile fish.
Of course, Ye Yunfei dared not let his guard down because of this. He still periodically employed the Myriad Swords Return to One Great Art, releasing thick sword radiances that swirled around him to form a tight defensive layer. In his heart, Ye Yunfei knew that without these sword radiances, the vast number of surrounding sword auras would have swarmed him long ago and launched a frenzied assault.
Soon, Ye Yunfei entered the interior of the temple.
The inside was a vast hall.
Within the hall, the number of sword auras was even greater, densely packed together and filling every inch of space.
“Even an Intermediate True God who entered here might be slashed to pieces by these dreadful sword auras. Even a High-Level True God probably wouldn’t dare to barge in so recklessly,” Hun Lao said, shocked, sensing the terrifying amount of sword energy within the hall.
Suddenly, Ye Yunfei’s gaze focused on the depths of the hall.
There, an altar table stood with a spirit tablet placed upon it. Carved on the tablet was a line of text.
“For My Husband Zhao Zixiong. Erected by His Wife Lin Xueqin.”
“Zhao Zixiong should be the name of that ancient Sword Dao expert who came to the Guqing Gang headquarters,” Ye Yunfei said softly, looking at the spirit tablet. “Lin Xueqin should be the daughter of the Guqing Gang Leader at that time. She erected this tablet.”
“It seems all the sword auras here originate from that spirit tablet,” Hun Lao spoke up.
“Yes.”
Ye Yunfei saw that the spirit tablet continuously breathed out thick, sharp sword auras. Even at a distance, he could feel the terrifying Sword Dao energy emanating from it.
“That ancient Sword Dao expert left behind only this one spirit tablet, yet it possesses such horrifying power. One can imagine just how powerful he himself was!” Hun Lao exclaimed in admiration again.
“Didn’t they say this Sword Shrine might hold an inheritance left by that Sword Dao expert? Why is there nothing?”
Ever since entering the temple, the Golden-Horned Dragon Silkworm had been surveying the interior, searching for any treasures. But he was quickly disappointed, because apart from the altar table and the spirit tablet upon it, the temple was completely empty, devoid of any other items.
“If that senior truly left behind his inheritance, the most likely place it’s contained is within that spirit tablet,” Ye Yunfei said, his gaze fixed on the tablet on the altar.
Just at that moment.
“Young man, since you were able to enter here, you have some destiny with this place.”
A voice—aloof, cold, yet also dignified beyond measure—slowly rang out. Then, Ye Yunfei saw the spirit tablet gently shake and spray out even more terrifying sword auras.
Immediately after, a large number of sword auras began to interweave above the tablet, ultimately forming a luminous figure.
This was a middle-aged man with a slender build and eyes like sword points.
He stood there, and the countless, densely packed sword auras that had been roaming around seemed to find their backbone. They instantly swarmed towards him, gathering around him as their center.
An awe-inspiring Sword Dao aura capable of shaking all directions and dominating the world radiated from this middle-aged man’s body. It made one involuntarily feel profound reverence, even an impulse to bow and submit to him.
The man’s eyes shone with brilliant sword radiance as he looked at Ye Yunfei.
“Senior…” Ye Yunfei stared at the middle-aged man, utterly astonished.
He hadn’t expected that Sword Dao expert from long ago had left behind a trace of Soul Power here. However, it wasn’t strange; an expert like him wouldn’t truly perish even upon death and would often leave behind remnants of his soul or traces of his Soul Power.
Looking at the man, Ye Yunfei momentarily didn’t know what to say.
Right then, the middle-aged man gently beckoned towards Ye Yunfei.
Whoosh, whoosh…
Then Ye Yunfei was shocked to discover streams of sword auras continuously surging out from within his body.
These sword auras were the essence of Sword Dao energy that Ye Yunfei had cultivated over many years, representing his Sword Dao level and lineage.
This Sword Dao energy originally lay dormant within Ye Yunfei as part of his cultivation, but now it surged forth uncontrollably.
Startled, Ye Yunfei retreated several steps, trying to pull the sword auras back. But he felt as if he had lost control over them.
Boom, boom, boom…
One sword aura after another hovered above Ye Yunfei’s head, slicing through the surrounding space with a sizzling sound.
“What’s going on? Have you lost control over your own Sword Dao cultivation?” Hun Lao also felt extremely shocked.
“I truly have no control over it,” Ye Yunfei replied helplessly.
Fortunately, Ye Yunfei could sense that the middle-aged man didn’t seem to harbor any malice toward him. Having cultivated Mental Force, Ye Yunfei trusted his own intuition quite a bit and thus did not make any excessive moves of resistance.
“Good. Although these sword auras are still relatively weak, their quality is excellent.” The middle-aged man observed the thick sword auras swirling above Ye Yunfei’s head, nodded, and showed an appreciative expression before asking, “Young man, the Sword Dao lineage you cultivate originates from the Sword Realm. How did you obtain it?”
“Senior, you know of the Sword Realm?” Ye Yunfei felt moved and asked.
“Of course I know the Sword Realm, for I hail from there myself. The Sword Dao lineage you cultivate is from our Sword Realm. Unless I am mistaken, your Sword Dao inheritance should be related to Jian Shenzi.”
The middle-aged man slowly nodded.
“I will not hide it from you, Senior. The Sword Dao inheritance I cultivate indeed came from Senior Jian Shenzi.” Seeing that this man had discerned the origins of his Sword Dao inheritance with a single sentence, Ye Yunfei was somewhat startled but decided to directly admit it.
“Jian Shenzi is my Senior Brother. His Sword Dao inheritance and mine are essentially from the same lineage. Of course you couldn’t hide it from me.”
“So this senior is the junior brother of Jian Shenzi!” Hearing this, Ye Yunfei felt profoundly shocked.
“How is my Senior Brother doing now?” the middle-aged man asked again.
“Senior, I don’t know how Lord Jian Shenzi is doing either, for I never encountered him in person.”
Ye Yunfei then truthfully recounted the process of how he had obtained Jian Shenzi’s Sword Dao inheritance.
“So that’s how it is.” The middle-aged man nodded after listening.
“Regardless, you cultivate the Sword Dao inheritance left by my Senior Brother, so you can be considered his disciple. You should call me Martial Uncle,” the middle-aged man said.
“This junior pays respects to Martial Uncle.”
Without hesitation, Ye Yunfei immediately performed a grand salute.
Because the man was right. Since he cultivated the Sword Dao inheritance left behind by Jian Shenzi, he was, in a sense, half a disciple of Jian Shenzi. Now that he had met Jian Shenzi’s junior brother, calling him Martial Uncle was only proper.
“Excellent.” The middle-aged man nodded, then waved his hand gently towards Ye Yunfei. All the sword auras that had erupted from Ye Yunfei’s body earlier immediately returned inside him, just like returning birds to their nest.
