Since Little Jinr was safe and sound, Gu Qingfeng could rest easy.
He glanced at Huode and noticed the old fellow had been staring fixedly at the person from the Eternal Life Pavilion in mid-air, rubbing his chin as he looked, appearing rather lecherous.
Gu Qingfeng teased, "I say, old man, who's caught your eye?"
"Caught my eye?"
Huode shot Gu Qingfeng a glare and retorted, "You think I'm like you, kid, who can't take a step when you see a girl?"
"Then what are you staring at with that look on your face?"
"I'm looking at that lass from the Eternal Life Pavilion."
"If you haven't taken a fancy to her, what the hell are you looking at?"
Gu Qingfeng turned his head and swept a glance, eyeing the beautiful woman from the Eternal Life Pavilion named Li Xin, commenting, "I must say, this little lady isn't bad. She's more than a match for an old fellow like you. What do you think? Taken a fancy? If you have, I'll step in and help make the connection."
"I say, Gu kid, can we speak a couple of serious words?"
Faced with such a thorough scoundrel as Gu Qingfeng here, Huode was truly speechless.
Not only speechless, but sometimes also baffled, wondering how a rogue bastard like Gu Qingfeng had ever become the Nine Nethers Emperor who shook the Great Desolate back in the day.
If he hadn't heard the legends about Gu Qingfeng, it would be one thing, but ever since coming to the Great Desolate and hearing those tales, Huode even suspected whether this guy was really the You Di who shook the Great Desolate. In the legends, You Di was a man like a god—aloof and domineering, cold and ruthless, peerless and matchless, unbridled and free, a pillar between heaven and earth, worshipped and admired by countless beings across the myriad realms.
And this Gu Qingfeng guy?
Aloof and domineering?
Cold and ruthless?
Peerless and matchless?
No!
None of it.
This guy, looked at from any angle, no matter how you looked, didn't resemble the legendary You Di, much less have anything to do with being aloof and domineering.
Compared to the legendary You Di, this guy was more like a second-generation rich kid who only knew how to eat, drink, and have fun, living a life of pleasure.
No!
Calling him a second-generation rich kid was even flattering him.
Even a second-generation rich kid would have proper posture when sitting and standing; their speech and conduct might not be refined and courteous, but they'd at least have basic manners and wouldn't constantly talk about this lady or that lady, this woman or that woman.
What the hell kind of talk was this for the aloof and domineering You Di? It was just the talk of a street hooligan, and a thorough scoundrel at that.
However.
Huode knew.
Even though he didn't believe it and didn't want to believe it, he had to admit that Gu Qingfeng was that legendary You Di.
You couldn't argue with it.
Believe it or not, it was a fact.
"How am I not being serious?"
Gu Qingfeng said indifferently, "You're serious, old man? If you're serious, why the hell are you staring at her?"
"I wasn't looking at that beautiful woman."
"Then who were you looking at? The Eternal Life Pavilion only has three women. Besides the beautiful little lady, there's only an old one and a young one."
Gu Qingfeng said, "Don't tell me you've taken a fancy to that old woman. Huode, it's not that I look down on you, but you... tsk tsk."
"Stop! Stop! Stop! Enough!"
Huode raised his hand, his face woeful, and said, "Master Gu, Ancestor Gu, I submit... alright? I really submit!"
"Submit what? I'm just giving you some advice, letting you consider it!"
"Consider my ass! You think I'm as shameless as you?"
Huode was so angry he blew at his beard and glared, shouting, "What the hell are you thinking about all day, kid?"
Huode truly submitted.
He was completely bowled over by Gu Qingfeng, and prostrated in admiration at that.
Others might not know, but he knew perfectly well that Gu Qingfeng now possessed the Original Sin body, and what's more, it was the Original Sin Dharma Body—the very culprit that triggered the current Calamity. If news of him being alive spread, the heavens above and earth below, the Three Thousand Great Daos, would absolutely spare no effort to obliterate him!
Anyone else who got caught up in this kind of thing would probably lose their appetite and sleep, hiding carefully in a corner.
But this guy.
Damn it.
Not only did he eat when he should eat, sleep when he should sleep, and play when he should play, not delaying anything, it was as if that damn Original Sin Dharma Body that triggered the Calamity wasn't him but someone else.
Huode truly submitted.
Seeing that Gu Qingfeng still wanted to say something, and to prevent this kid from misunderstanding, Huode quickly explained, "I wasn't looking at that beautiful woman, nor was I looking at that old woman. I was looking at that little girl. That little girl looks familiar to me; I've seen her before and know her."
"Really or fake?"
"What? You don't believe me, do you?"
"I must say," Gu Qingfeng laughed, "I really don't quite believe it. If you were looking at her, just admit you were looking at her. What's there to be shy about? Why use a little girl as an excuse?"
"Dare you make a bet with me, kid? Bet on whether I know that little girl or not."
"Alright, what's the bet?"
"If you lose, you have to do me a favor."
"What favor?"
"I won't say what favor for now. Anyway, it's a trivial matter for you, kid."
"I say, Huode."
Gu Qingfeng glanced at the little girl in mid-air, then looked at Huode, asking, "You old man aren't setting some kind of trap for me, are you? I feel something's off."
"Don't give me this useless talk. Just say if you dare or not. If you don't dare, just say so. I won't force you."
"Hey! Looks like you haven't wasted your time in the Great Desolate. You've even learned to retreat in order to advance and play the reverse psychology game. Fine, it's just doing you a favor, no big deal. Let's bet then. You think I'm afraid of you?"
