The Heavenly Dao also has envoys, and they are more mysterious and low-key than the envoys of any other Great Dao. Under ordinary circumstances, they simply do not show themselves.
Gu Qingfeng had seen Heavenly Dao Envoys before. Not only had he seen them, he had even fought with them, and even killed so-called Heavenly Dao Envoys.
In his impression, Heavenly Dao Envoys were like the envoys of other Great Daos—some governed a single world, while others governed a Heavenly Domain.
Hearing Ren Tianxing say that Dugu Qizhan was also a Heavenly Dao Envoy, Gu Qingfeng couldn't help but feel curious. Dugu Qizhan was a Heavenly General from the Ancient Desolation Era, belonged to the Shangqing Grotto, and bore the grand title of 'Equal to Heaven.' He couldn't possibly be just a Heavenly Dao Envoy governing a single world, could he?
Could he be an envoy governing a Heavenly Domain?
No!
That wasn't right either.
Given Dugu Qizhan's status, background, and position, he probably couldn't be just an envoy governing a Heavenly Domain either.
Upon inquiry, Ren Tianxing responded, "Dugu Qizhan should be the Heavenly Dao Envoy governing the Myriad Heavens and Worlds of the Great Desolation!"
Good heavens!
Although Gu Qingfeng had more or less guessed this might be the case, when Ren Tianxing said it in a very serious tone, it still shocked him greatly.
Because in all his life, he had never seen a Heavenly Dao Envoy who governed the Myriad Heavens and Worlds.
Let alone a Heavenly Dao Envoy, he had never even seen an Immortal Dao Envoy or a Demonic Dao Envoy who governed the Myriad Heavens and Worlds.
It must be understood that, in a sense, these Great Dao Envoys were also equivalent to the incarnations of their respective Great Daos.
This was no exaggeration at all.
For example, an Immortal Dao Envoy governing a single world could fully represent the Immortal Dao in enforcing its laws within that world, such as conducting Great Dao Judgments and the like.
Of course, their enforcement authority was limited to that single world. If they left that world, the so-called Great Dao Envoy was just an empty title.
However, on the other hand, beyond a single world lay a Heavenly Domain. The authority of a Great Dao Envoy governing a Heavenly Domain was much greater than that of a world envoy.
And what was larger than a Heavenly Domain was probably the Great Dao Envoy governing the Myriad Heavens and Worlds of the Great Desolation.
Great Dao Envoys of this level possessed extremely high authority because they could enforce the law in any Heavenly Domain, in any world.
If it were a Great Desolation Envoy of the Immortal Dao, they could enforce the law wherever the Immortal Dao's influence reached. The Immortal Dao's influence was like the radiance of the great sun. In other words, wherever sunlight could reach, the Great Desolation Envoy of the Immortal Dao could enforce the law.
And if it were a Great Desolation Envoy of the Heavenly Dao, that would be even more terrifying.
Everyone knew that although the Immortal Dao had claimed to be the overlord of Heaven and Earth since the Primordial Era, it was merely a claim.
Only a Great Dao that dominated the origin of Heaven and Earth could truly be considered the overlord of Heaven and Earth.
Unfortunately, the Immortal Dao had not yet dominated the origin of Heaven and Earth to this day.
Legend had it that the origin of Heaven and Earth was still dominated by the Heavenly Dao. Precisely because of this, although the Heavenly Dao had always been mysterious and low-key, no one dared to ignore its existence.
Think about it.
If the Heavenly Dao still dominated the origin of Heaven and Earth, then the Great Desolation Envoy of the Heavenly Dao would be almost equivalent to the Old Man Heaven who ruled over all living beings and the myriad things of Heaven and Earth. Regardless of whether you were an immortal, a Buddha, a human, a spirit, a demon, a ghost, or a monster, and regardless of which world or Heavenly Domain you were in, as long as you existed within Heaven and Earth, you could not escape the judgment of the Heavenly Dao.
"It is said..." Mo Wentian also added, "It is said that after the Primordial Era, some of the Original Sin Dharma Bodies that appeared were banished into the Guixu by Genggu Wuming, but... most of them died at the hands of Dugu Qizhan. They were all completely erased by him in the name of 'executing Heaven's will'..."
At this moment, Gu Qingfeng finally understood why, when Mo Wentian had uttered the name Dugu Qizhan earlier, even an existence like Ren Tianxing had involuntarily revealed a look of shock and awe.
A Heavenly General from the Ancient Desolation Era who campaigned against the Three Thousand Great Daos.
A Heavenly Dao Envoy of the Present Era who governed the Great Desolation.
It was no exaggeration to say that for all living beings existing within Heaven and Earth, Dugu Qizhan's existence was equivalent to the incarnation of the Heavenly Dao.
The Heavenly Dao was the overlord that dominated Heaven and Earth.
So-called immortals, Buddhas, humans, spirits, demons, ghosts, and monsters were like ants to the Heavenly Dao.
If the Heavenly Dao wanted to claim you, you absolutely could not survive.
Unless you could leap out of this Heaven and Earth.
The problem was, throughout the ages, who could leap out of Heaven and Earth?
The answer was certain.
No one could.
No matter how powerful an individual's strength was, it could never surpass the Heavenly Dao.
For all living beings, since ancient times there have been two absolute taboos.
First, do not defy Heaven. Second, do not alter fate.
It wasn't that the consequences of defying Heaven and altering fate were so terrifying, but rather that you simply could not defy the Heavenly Dao, nor could you change fate.
"The Great Sun Yao Huang of the Immortal Dao, the Buddha Emperor Miao Rulai of the Buddhist Dao, the Green Lamp Patriarch of the Ghost Dao, the Black Mountain Lord of the Demonic Dao, the Blood River Patriarch of the Devil Dao... and then there's Dugu Qizhan of the Heavenly Dao..." Ren Tianxing lowered his head, holding a wine cup, murmuring these names.
Gu Qingfeng remained silent.
He knew that the names Ren Tianxing was murmuring were the representatives of the various Great Daos who had entered the Primordial Black Hole this time. The Three Thousand Great Daos were now clearly not going to allow the True Lord of Original Sin to be born, and might not even allow Wudao Mountain to appear. In other words, these representatives of the Great Daos were all opponents that Ren Tianxing would have to face.
Because if he wanted to break free, he had to delve into Original Sin. And the most direct and thorough method to delve into Original Sin was to vie for the position of True Lord of Original Sin. If he wanted to vie for that position, then he would inevitably have to confront these representatives of the Great Daos.
"Those who entered the Primordial Black Hole this time aren't limited to just Dugu Qizhan of the Shangqing Grotto representing the Heavenly Dao."
Mo Wentian suddenly spoke up. Gu Qingfeng asked curiously, "What other big shots are coming?"
"Have you all forgotten about the Holy Land?"
Hearing 'Holy Land,' Gu Qingfeng suddenly slapped his forehead. "If you hadn't mentioned it, I really would have forgotten about the Holy Land. With such a major event as the Primordial Black Hole, even the Shangqing Grotto representing the Heavenly Dao has come. The Holy Land definitely wouldn't miss it either."
The Holy Land was a legend.
Its existence was similar to that of the Heavenly Dao.
The existence of the Heavenly Dao stood above the Three Thousand Great Daos, while the existence of the Holy Land stood above the Thirty-Six Grotto-Heavens and Seventy-Two Blessed Lands.
If the Western Heaven represented the Buddhist Dao,
Xuan Tian represented the Immortal Dao,
Huang Tian represented the Human Dao,
Qing Tian represented the Dao of Justice,
and Shangqing Tian represented the Heavenly Dao,
then the Holy Land represented the Holy Dao.
As for what the Holy Dao was,
Gu Qingfeng truly did not know.
In his impression, the existence of the Holy Dao was exceptionally noble.
Yes, noble.
The Heavenly Dao gave him the impression of dominance, of an inviolable, unopposable overlord. But the Holy Dao gave him a feeling of particular nobility, noble as if sacred, lofty and unattainable, supremely dignified, inspiring reverence and awe.
Legend had it that during the era of Great Dao contention in the Ancient Desolation Era, only the Holy Dao did not participate.
The reason was unknown.
Later, when the Ancient Desolation Era ended, it seemed the Holy Dao also declined, and to this day it seemed not to have recovered.
At the very least,
from the opening of the Primordial Era, through the Ancient Era, the Archaic Era, and straight into the Present Era, no existence had ever achieved Sagehood, not even one.
