"This...
Heh-heh!"
Da Xing the Mad Monk gave a slightly awkward laugh. Though reluctant, he had no choice but to bring up the topic of Karma before Gu Qingfeng, as this was precisely the reason for his coming. He tipped his head back and took a swig of wine. "To say My Buddha is worried about you and wants you to give up Karma... that's probably stretching it a bit.
To tell you the truth, My Buddha isn't worried about you—they're afraid of you."
"Afraid of me?"
Gu Qingfeng sneered. "Does Buddha ever know fear?"
"Everyone knows fear, and My Buddha is no exception. Especially now, with the Heavenly and Earthly essences being reborn and all Laws undergoing reorganization, no one knows exactly what will happen. My Buddha doesn't know either. And precisely because they don't know, they must take precautions against unforeseen dangers...
And you, brother, are one of those 'unforeseen dangers' that the Venerable Buddha personally named and insisted we guard against."
"Your Buddha overestimates me..." Gu Qingfeng replied, his gaze fixed on the weakened Jun Xuanji as if lost in thought. "After the Calamity, I intended to live in seclusion. As long as you don't provoke me, I absolutely won't make trouble for anyone."
"I believe you when you say that."
Da Xing nodded heavily. "However, Brother Gu, you should know that some things, once started, are destined to have no turning back. And the way these things develop is often beyond anyone's control...
Karma is one such thing."
"Karma..." Gu Qingfeng closed his eyes slightly, a look of helplessness on his face. "Da Xing, there's one question I've never been able to understand. I seek my own Karma—what business is it of yours?
Why does everyone keep jumping out and telling me to give it up!"
"Brother Gu, you should presumably know about the so-called Karmic Black Hole. That thing is terrifying; it can draw the Karma of many people into its vortex. The more people who get caught, the more dreadful the consequences.
Right now, the Karma Law is undergoing reorganization, yet the Karmic Black Hole continues to sweep through like a tornado, drawing in more and more people, more and more Karma...
If this continues, it could very likely affect the Karma Law itself. Once the Karma Law falls into chaos, the consequences would be unimaginable.
You must understand that all things between Heaven and Earth exist within Karma. If the Karma Law becomes disordered, then the entire world will fall into chaos...
That would inevitably lead to another Calamity. Isn't that exactly how the so-called 'Mysterious Era,' the enigma of past and present, came to an end?"
The Mysterious Era?
That was a distant and unknown era, one that came after the Desolate Ancient. It was extremely brief—so brief that right after the Desolate Ancient ended and a new era had just begun, a Calamity occurred shortly after, abruptly terminating that new era...
The reason for the end of that era has always been the greatest mystery between Heaven and Earth, unknown to this day. Everything about that era remains unknown, as if it never existed at all. No one knows any person or event from the Mysterious Era, which is why everyone refers to it as the Mysterious Era.
Mentioning the Mysterious Era inevitably leads to discussing the world-renowned Six Great Legends of Mystery.
The Legend of Ascension to Godhood.
The Legend of Wu Dao.
The Legend of Karma.
The Legend of Burying the Ancient.
The Legend of Truth.
The Legend of the Black Hole.
The so-called Legend of Ascension to Godhood tells of a peerless prodigy born during the Mysterious Era who slaughtered Immortals, butchered Demons, defied Heaven and Earth, and ultimately attained True Godhood, becoming the first person since the Era of Gods to achieve deification.
The so-called Legend of Wu Dao tells of a person who, relying on supreme comprehension, opened up a new Great Dao outside the Three Thousand Great Daos, named Wu Dao. It is said the mysteries of the Wu Dao Law encompass all things, containing the secrets of Heaven, Earth, and all creation.
The so-called Legend of Karma tells of a person who, by their own power, changed their own Karma, severed all their Karma, becoming the first person in history to cut off their own Karma and grasp their Fate in their own hands.
The so-called Legend of Burying the Ancient tells of a person who, in a fit of rage when the Calamity occurred, personally buried the Heavenly and Earthly essences, burying Heaven and Earth along with an entire era.
Of course, opposing the Legend of Burying the Ancient is another so-called Legend of Truth.
It is said that extraordinary person discovered the true secrets of Heaven and Earth, only to be eradicated by the Gods. The Gods then initiated a Calamity to end the Mysterious Era, covering up all truths belonging to that time.
Finally, there is the so-called Legend of the Black Hole. It is said that after that extraordinary person was eradicated by the Gods, they used some unknown divine ability to transform into a Karmic Black Hole. This Karmic Black Hole is eternal, unrestricted by any Great Dao restriction, nor Heaven and Earth's within, not subject to any Great Dao restriction, nor Heaven and Earth's within (unrestricted by any Great Dao, nor existing within Heaven and Earth), and it has been spinning ever since, appearing in almost every era...
These are the world-renowned Six Great Legends of Mystery. Since no one knows the name of that extraordinary person, later generations, based on the Wu Dao created by this person, honorifically refer to them as 'Venerable Wu Dao,' meaning the one and only, supreme (supreme) of Heaven and Earth.
However, legends are, after all, just legends.
No one knows their truth or falsehood.
Even after passing through the Primeval, Ancient, Upper Ancient, and down to the Present Ancient eras, everything about the Mysterious Era and Venerable Wu Dao remains an unknown mystery that no one understands.
Yet, one point is undeniable.
The so-called Six Great Legends of Mystery opened a Great Karma Era.
Because Venerable Wu Dao of the Mysterious Era once severed Karma, becoming the first to grasp their own Fate in their hands, later generations have followed suit one after another (followed suit one after another), also wishing to sever Karma, free themselves from its restraints (restraints), and thus master their own Fate, truly achieving 'my life is mine to command, not Heaven's.'
Why seek to master one's own Fate?
The reason is simple: because legend says that only by severing one's own Karma can one attain True Godhood.
This is also why, throughout the ages, even after so many great powers have fallen into Karmic cycles and lost themselves, countless people still attempt to sever Karma...
Because they all wish to grasp their own Fate. They all wish to attain True Godhood.
Virtually anyone who has been to the Celestial Realm knows of the so-called Six Great Legends of Mystery surrounding Venerable Wu Dao. Gu Qingfeng was no exception.
However, he was a man who never believed in legends. He only believed what he saw with his own eyes.
He sought Karma not because he wanted to grasp his Fate in his own hands, nor because he wished to attain True Godhood. He simply wanted to know his own Karma, purely and simply.
"Brother Gu, those connected to you by Karma have already fallen into the Black Hole. In other words, one of your feet is already caught in the Black Hole. If you give up Karma now, everything can still be remedied."
Mentioning the Karmic Black Hole, Da Xing the Mad Monk also wore a look of melancholy, seeming particularly pained. He sighed, "Far too many have already fallen into the Black Hole. Despite My Buddha's utmost efforts to prevent (prevent it), we were still too late.
Brother Gu, for the sake of all living beings under Heaven, please give up Karma. My Buddha has said that as long as you are willing to give it up, you may leave at any time. Not only can you leave, but you can also take Jun Xuanji with you. And from now on, My Buddha will never concern themselves with any of your affairs—any!
Remember!
Any! Even if you tear a hole in the Heavens again, My Buddha will still turn a blind eye."
